Team Torri

If you love glitter and sparkles, then there is a very special event happening at the Olive Bowl on the 30th of November 2018 that you won’t want to miss. Earlier this year, a very brave young lady, Torri, aged 8, was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

Leukaemia is a cancer of the bone marrow. This is the spongy material in the middle of bones where blood cells are made. When someone has leukaemia, their body produces too many abnormal white blood cells. The cells don’t usually form a lump (tumour), but travel around the body in the blood.
Torri has been incredibly brave throughout her treatment so far and has decided that an event with the theme, “You can never have enough glitter!” is the way forward. What a fantastic idea! I so agree, Torri, and I am sure everyone will be there with lots of sequins, smiles and fun!
Following Torri’s wishes, the fantastic and motivated ‘Team Torri’ have arranged a charity band night in order to raise funds for running the London Marathon in 2019, which they are doing to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.
Children with Cancer in the UK was founded by Eddie and Marion O’Gorman following the death of their son, Paul, in February 1987. Just nine months later, another devastating blow struck the family when Paul’s sister, Jean, was also killed by cancer. In November 1987, just days after Jean’s death, their parents, Eddie and Marion O’Gorman, met Diana, Princess of Wales. Deeply moved by the double tragedy, she personally helped to establish the charity.
At Children with Cancer UK, they actively raise and invest money for vital specialist research to save the lives of every child with cancer and keep their family together. They currently fund more than 60 research projects at centres of excellence around the UK. These projects are investigating a broad range of childhood cancers – helping doctors to better understand these diseases and to find more effective, less toxic ways of treating them. For more information, please visit: www.childrenwithcancer.org.uk.
The charity band night will be a great shindig! “Old as Dirt” will be playing some absolutely rocking tunes and there will be lots of fun and games. Team Torri has also organised a raffle and an auction – and I have sent a gift voucher in for you to bid on!
You will need a ticket to come along, which are priced at just £7 per person.
Tickets are available from the Olive Bowl website at http://www.theolivebowl.co.uk/bookings.

I am sure that this will be an amazing event – not to be missed!
